Disney Cruise Line is looking toward its next chapter at sea.

During D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event presented by Visa, Disney revealed new details about the Disney Believe, which is scheduled to set sail in late 2027, along with a first look at an entirely new class of Disney Cruise Line ships expected to debut beginning in 2029.

From a Moana-inspired Grand Hall to Toy Story characters decorating the ship’s stern, the Disney Believe will bring new stories and experiences to the fleet. And beyond 2027, three additional ships will introduce an entirely new size and class to Disney Cruise Line.

Disney Believe Sets Sail in Late 2027

The Disney Believe will feature new venue concepts and entertainment experiences inspired by some of Disney’s most beloved stories, including:

• Encanto
• Frozen
• Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
• Moana
• The Little Mermaid

During the Horizons showcase at D23, Disney also revealed the first details about the ship’s Grand Hall and its distinctive exterior artwork.

A Moana-Inspired Grand Hall

Like its sister ships—the Disney Wish, Disney Treasure and Disney Destiny—the Disney Believe will feature a Grand Hall that serves as one of the central gathering spaces aboard the ship.

On the Disney Believe, this spectacular space will be inspired by the optimistic spirit of exploration found in Disney Animation’s Moana films.

A bronze cast statue of Moana, accompanied by Pua and Heihei, will serve as a focal point of the Grand Hall as the characters gaze toward new horizons.

The design will also incorporate influences from the films’ South Pacific setting, complemented by artisanal Polynesian finishes honoring the cultural traditions of the region.

Woody and Buzz Lightyear Take Over the Stern

Disney also unveiled the character artwork that will decorate the exterior of the Disney Believe.

Continuing a Disney Cruise Line tradition, the stern will feature larger-than-life sculptures of beloved Disney and Pixar characters.

This time, Woody and Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story will appear hitching a ride on the back of the ship.

The duo will be shown working together to write the ship’s name across the stern using large yellow crayons.

Instead of the traditional calligraphy used across the Disney Cruise Line fleet, their version of “Disney Believe” will feature playful lettering inspired by the recognizable block-style font of the Toy Story franchise.

Tinker Bell Brings Pixie Dust to the Bow

The bow of the Disney Believe will feature another iconic Disney character: Tinker Bell.

A delicate, hand-painted filigree will depict Tinker Bell as she appeared in Walt Disney Animation Studios’ 1953 classic, Peter Pan.

She will be surrounded by silhouettes of Peter Pan, Wendy, Captain Hook and other characters from the film, appearing to fly throughout the swirling design.

Together, these details will reinforce the central theme behind the Disney Believe: belief in magic, family, nature and yourself.

Disney Cruise Line Is Introducing an Entirely New Class of Ships

The Disney Believe is only one part of Disney Cruise Line’s ambitious expansion.

Disney previously announced plans to expand its fleet to 13 ships, and following the Disney Believe—the fourth ship in the Wish class—the cruise line will introduce three ships belonging to an entirely new class.

The first ships in this new class are expected to debut beginning in 2029.

A New Ship Size Opens the Door to New Destinations

The upcoming ships will occupy a unique position within the Disney Cruise Line fleet.

They will be larger than the Disney Wonder but smaller than the Disney Wish, placing them between Disney’s classic ships and its newer vessels.

According to Disney, this middle ground in size will provide greater flexibility and create opportunities to visit new destinations and reach new audiences around the world.

While Disney has not yet revealed the names, itineraries, onboard experiences or specific destinations planned for these three ships, their size could allow Disney Cruise Line to explore possibilities that are different from those available to its existing vessels.

A New Era for Disney Cruise Line

With the Disney Believe setting sail in late 2027 and a completely new class of three ships beginning to arrive in 2029, Disney Cruise Line is continuing one of the most significant expansions in its history.

The Disney Believe will combine beloved stories such as Moana, Toy Story and Peter Pan with new venues and entertainment, while the next generation of ships will give Disney Cruise Line greater flexibility as it expands to destinations around the world.
